Kickapoo Acres is located in the scenic,
rolling hills of southwestern Ohio...there, we have been breeding, raising, showing and
loving Miniature Horses since 1989. Our small herd consists of 10-12 Minis. We
operate more for "pleasure" than as a business, but we usually do have a limited
number of foals for sale each year, as well as a mare or stallion on occasion. We
pride ourselves on raising show quality, refined Arab-type Minis with small dishy heads,
tail-flagging and high-stepping action in a variety of colors.
From the very beginning,
our main herd sire, and "foundation" has been Hemlock Brooks Cock Robin, a
blue-eyed Silver-Chestnut Sabino/Tovero foaled in 1978. Robin is a multi-Grand
Champion and was retired from the show ring at age 17, but continued to give us
outstanding foals each year, that were stamped with his beauty, refinement and
presence. He has more than earned his "retirement", and
in early 2004 went to live the "life of leisure" with Angie Sauer at
Hoofbeat BuckOn Acres! THANK YOU Angie, for recognizing what a treasure CockRobin
is, and having these wonderful photos taken of him at
26 years "young" to show others what we have always seen in
him....the GRAND GENTLEMAN that he was...and still is!
My passion is
wildly marked Frame Overos & Toveros....so we brought in an LTD bred
stallion a few years ago & started crossing him on our mares. The
result was fantastic! LTDs Moonstruck gave us some incredibly
marked Frame Overo fillies which we are keeping for our breeding
program. He also gave us a gorgeous & small Bay Frame Overo colt
"Apache" that we are keeping as our new Jr. Stallion. Moonstruck
has moved on to continue his line in Australia....but we have no
doubt that Apache will take over for him & continue to give us more
beautiful Frame Overo babies in the future!
Apache's first foals are expected in 2008. Watch for foal
